Living in Eden Prairie
Eden Prairie is a great place to live. Not only is Eden Prairie family-friendly, it has a dynamite economy too.
At 4.4%, its unemployment rate is more than four points below the national average.
While it doesn’t have much of a downtown, there’s plenty of beauty to take in. There are 17 lakes that residents enjoy year-round for swimming and ice skating. Parks are filled with 125 miles of running, hiking, and biking trails.
The Twin Cities were named the No. 1 fittest city in the U.S. and Eden Prairie is no stranger to the fit life. Their residents rank among the healthiest people in the nation. Add in top-notch schools and safe streets and you’ve got a place that’s tough to beat.
Eden Prairie has the dynamite combination of great employment prospects, natural beauty, and a well-educated workforce. Rumor has it the city is preparing for further expansion with a light commuter rail project in the works for 2018.
You have to look hard to find downsides, but there are a few: winters are long and cold, and there’s not much of a downtown besides a mega shopping mall. But families come for the jobs and stay for the lifestyle. -Money Magazine
