Federal Legislative Update/Broker Involvement Program
(1.0 hour of CE credit) Things in Washington DC are constantly being negotiated and changed. When you think you have a grasp of something, you can be sure that it will be changed or amended somehow to fit someone else’s needs or wants. This course will give a review of the 2013 Legislative Issues that impacted real estate, consumers and licensees and get a preview of issues to be watching. You’ll also learn how important it is to send a clear unified voice to our state and federal leaders on critical legislative issues affecting our industry. As the leader of your brokerage, you can set an example for your agents to participate in the government process.
Common Claims Trends and How it Affects your Brokerage
(2.0 hours of CE credit) Your brokerage can be subject to a wide variety of claims that can have an impact on you and your agents. During this portion of the course, you will get an overall perspective of the current legal environment as it relates to brokerages. Your role as a broker/owner puts you in a position that requires you to manage agents and their actions in order to avoid any errors that could lead to a lawsuit. What is expected of an agent, internal policies relating to agent-owned property representation, what is covered vs. what is allowed, managing your risk/claims through a Policies & Procedures Manual, recent disclosure lawsuits along with 10 Risk Prevention Ideas.
Broker Supervisory Obligations
(1.0 hr of CE credit) This course will explore basic real estate broker supervisory obligations as required under MN Chapter 82. The instructor will analyze the responsibilities relating to preparation and monitoring of real estate related documents and share guidelines and tips to reduce liability. This course has a 10 question test that must be passed in order to meet the requirement. (This is the 2013-14 DOC required Broker Module.)
This program is geared toward the broker, designated REALTOR® or office manager who handles many of the daily duties with running an office. However, agents may also find this conference beneficial and are welcome to attend.
