Nearly all homebuyers who go online to look for a home say pictures are some of the most useful features REALTORS® can have on their websites. This is true no matter where you live – including in Minnesota. Digital photos and virtual tours let Minnesota REALTORS® show off properties quickly and professionally. These online listings are convenient for potential buyers and a good resource for sellers looking to check out the competition in Minnesota’s housing market.
According to the National Association of REALTORS®:
- 53% of REALTORS® Web sites feature virtual tours.
- 88% of homebuyers find virtual tours to be very or somewhat useful.
- 96% of all REALTORS® use a digital camera.
But – as helpful as pictures online are for REALTORS® – you need to make sure the photos you have posted for a property really show it off. A poor photo can hurt a property’s prospects because a potential buyer may not even want to give it a chance!
Real Estate Photography Tips: Stop and Look
Before you start taking any pictures at your listing, stop and look around. Do you need to move some clutter around? Is a chair in the way? Turn on all the lights and lamps to make sure everything is light and there aren’t any dark spaces. If you can, stage the home before taking any photos. You want to make sure counters are clear and personal photos and clutter are nowhere to be seen.
Real Estate Photography Tips: Take as Many Pictures As Possible
The beauty of digital cameras is that you don’t need to worry about wasting film! So – take as many pictures as you possibly can – and use as many angles as possible in the home’s rooms and outdoor spaces. You may need to adjust your camera’s settings as well. While your automatic setting may be fine in the middle of a summer afternoon in Minnesota – fading light later in the day, shadows and other things can impact what filters and settings you want to use.
Real Estate Photography Tips: Edit Your Photos
Don’t forget about adjusting your real estate photos after you’ve taken them! TechSavvyAgent has some great advice on “post processing” for photos – from software to use to simply cropping and re-sizing your real estate images to make a Minnesota property look its best.
